Pampered in Pink: From Mixed-Media Portrait to Pet Retreat

This playful mixed-media piece transforms a beloved Pekingese into a graphic pop-art icon while demonstrating how contrasting craft techniques can coexist within a single composition. At its center, the repeated dog portraits are created using rubber stamping, a process that produces strong, simplified lines and allows the same image to appear more than once. The repetition gives the work a printmaking quality while establishing the Pekingese as the unmistakable star of the composition.

Around the stamped portraits, collage introduces blocks of pink, lavender, black, and deep purple. Overlapping rectangles break up the surface almost architecturally, creating a framework that feels simultaneously ordered and playful.
